A decade later: Passing-out parade held in Hangu

IGP’s efforts to enhance police training lauded

PESHAWAR: A passing-out parade was held at Police Training College (PTC) in Hangu after a period of over 10 years. This was stated in a press release issued on Saturday.

On the occasion, Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said said revolutionary reforms in police training have brought considerable benefits. “IGP Nasir Khan Durrani should be commended for his concerted efforts to initiate change,” the statement cited him as saying.

He was a chief guest at the passing-out parade.

“It is a great pleasure to see such remarkable activities at PTC after a lapse of 10 years,” the press release cited the finance minister as saying.

The ceremony held annually until 2005. After that, the yearly event was no longer held due to terrorist attacks in K-P. Officials, students and a large number of teachers participated in the ceremony. PTC Commandant DIG Dr Fasihuddin spoke about a comprehensive plan that is being considered by the IGP to revive PTC in Hangu.

“Soon a new school of investigation, a new forensic science laboratory, new courses and high-tech teaching facilities will be added to the class rooms for modern training and education,” the document cited Fasihuddin as saying. “The curriculum and syllabi of courses have been recently revised by the IGP to meet the new challenges of serious crimes and terrorism.”

DC Haji Ihsanullah lauded the role of the public, schoolchildren, college students, media representatives and female teachers for joining hands with PTC.
