ISLAMABAD: Government officials from different agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) underwent five days of training on farming techniques. A total of 25 government officials completed their training at the National Agricultural Research Centre (Narc) on Friday.

The participants came from the Khyber Agency, Kurram Agency, North and South Waziristan. The training was organised by Food and Agriculture Organisation in collaboration with NARC from the 15th to the 19th of August.

Officials were trained in areas such as crop, vegetable and fruit production. They also received lectures and participated in training exercises related to water, soil and range management techniques.

New techniques such as Biozote (bio-fertiliser) technology were also introduced to the participants. Such technology will be helpful in Fata’s agricultural conditions in particular.
