Public health: Steps to contain spread of Congo virus discussed

They said various tests were being conducted to diagnose the virus strains

LAHORE: A delegation from the Turkish Public Health Institute visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Friday and discussed with UVAS experts and researchers and Livestock and Dairy Development Department officials measures to contain the Congo fever virus.

The delegation included Ebru Arydin and Dilek Meneminilogo. UVAS Vice Chancellor Talat Naseer Pasha, Faculty of Veterinary Science Dean Masood Rabbani, Department of Parasitology Chairman Kamran Ashraf and Tahir Yaqub were among the other participants.

The UVAS experts told the Turkish delegation that Congo fever virus had been spreading among animals through ticks.

They said the government had established facilities at various places to de-worm animals and spray anti-tick sprays on them. They said various tests were being conducted to diagnose the virus strains.
