Gojra-Shorkot motorway segment to be completed by Nov 2017
Project will now cost Rs17 billion

The construction of the 62-km Gojra-Shorkot section of Faisalabad-Multan Motorway will be completed by November next year, said an official in the National Highway Authority. He said as per initial estimates the project was to cost Rs21 billion but due to the competitive process, it will now cost Rs17 billion. To ensure timely completion, the Gojra-Shorkot section has been sub-divided in two construction packages. The first package is the 31-km Gojra-Jamani section which will cost Rs8.35 billion while the 31-km Jamani-Shorkot will cost Rs8.83 billion. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank that gave a $178-million loan for the construction of Gojra-Shorkotsection of M-4, including $91 million grant provided by the DFID United Kingdom. The Government of Pakistan will invest a counterpart share of $46 million in the project.
