ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad sessions court on Wednesday has granted bail to one of the suspects in the Fahad Malik Murder case.

Nomi Khokhar was granted interim bail by an additional session judge until August 27 against surety bonds of Rs200,000. The judge also directed the police to submit a report on the case on August 27.

Khokhar is one of seven people nominated in the FIR registered by Shalimar Police Station. Sources previously told The Express Tribune that the principal accused — Arshad Chaudhry — may have fled the country.

Lawyer and businessman Fahad Malik, a nephew of former Senate chairman Muhammad Mian Soomro, and was shot dead in Islamabad on August 15.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on Somroo to offer condolences. He assured the family that justice would be provided in the case.

Later on Wednesday, Malik’s funeral was held in his hometown of Bhadana village, Gujar Khan District.
