Sindh Orange Line bus project ‘moving apace’

Sindh transport minister says timely completion will be achieved

KARACHI: In a development that would surely come as some sort of relief to the city’s commuters, Sindh Minster for Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that construction work on the Orange Line Bus project has been progressing at a much faster pace and obstacles in its way have been removed.

He pointed out that shifting of utility services’ lines has been completed and piling foundation work is continuing. The minister directed the mass transit cell to ensure timely completion of the project initiated under the Rapid Bus Transit initiative.



On the occasion, Shah was briefed about the salient features of the project. It was pointed out that this project would be completed by February next year. “The Orange Bus would commence from Shaharh-e-Quaideen and merge with the Green Line at the board office.”

The minister directed that work on the project should be carried out round the clock and be completed at the earliest so that relief can be provided to the people.



It was informed that the service would be available to 50,000 passengers daily and there would be a station after every kilometer.

Orangi line would be spread over 3.75 kilometres of which one kilometer would be an elevated lane which include Bacha Khan Bridge. Of the four lanes at this bridge, one lane each would be allocated for the Orange Bus.

For the project, Rs2 billion would be spent under the annual development programme.



The Orange Line project has been taken up by the Sindh government whereas the Green Bus Project is being completed with the assistance of the federal government.

The Minister said that RBT was an important project which would help provide better transport facilities in the metropolis.
