This year has seen a number of Hollywood celebrities turning towards, or returning, to the small screen.
The newest A-lister to hop on to the bandwagon is none other than Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr, who according to The Hollywood Reporter, has teamed up with Nic Pizzolatto, creator of True Detective, for a brand new HBO drama series.
While details regarding the project are still being kept under the wraps, it has been confirmed that Pizzolatto will be penning the script and Downey Jr will be adding his star power to the cast.
Sources say that the project could be based on the actor’s long gestating Perry Mason reboot, with his wife, Susan Downey taking the seat as executive producer for the show. However, HBO is yet to issue an official confirmation on statement on the matter.
Should this project successfully move forward, it will mark the star’s return to the television screen after his stint on Fox’s popular series, Ally McBeal.
On the other hand, Pizzolatto has had a long association with HBO, stemming from his highly acclaimed crime drama series, True Detective, starring Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams in lead roles. The show will be keeping the writer busy through 2018, even though he does not have an idea for the third season. He revealed that he is busy with other projects at the moment, hinting towards his collaboration with Downey Jr.
