Misbah fined 20% of match fees for Oval Test

42-year-old now faces possible suspension should he be charged with the offence once again

Pakistan Test captain Misbahul Haq was fined 20% of his match fee due to the slow over rate during the final day’s play at The Oval, Express News reported on Monday.

The incident occurred on the final day of proceedings where the tourists were accused of slow over rate shortly after Pakistan claimed a 10-wicket win at the Oval to level the series.

'Homeless' Pakistan deserve to be No 1, says Misbah

The 42-year-old now faces possible suspension should he be charged with the offence once again.

According to International Cricket Council’s (ICC) press release, match referees imposed the fine after Misbah’s side was ruled to be one over short of its target of 158 overs when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10% of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

Pakistan crush England to level series

If Pakistan commits another minor over-rate breach in a Test within 12 months of this offence with Misbah as captain, it will be deemed a second offence by the captain and he will face a suspension.

Since Misbah pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charge was laid by on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Bruce Oxenford, third umpire Joel Wilson and fourth official Rob Bailey.

SaneVoice | 6 years ago | Reply WOW English are big time sore losers. They are probably feeling butt hurt by those pushup antics that Pakistani's pulled after the first test win and every one witnessed how they left English red faced. LOL
