A weather system developed around Peshawar, its surrounding districts and Gilgit, with heavy breeze and light rainfall in some places. In Mardan, five people were injured in three incidents, including those in which buildings collapsed due to thunderstorm that lashed the region. This was stated by Rescue 1122 Spokesperson Bilal Faizi. The rescue teams took the injured to District Headquarters Hospital Mardan. A thunderstorm also hit Gilgit.
The weather took yet another turn, although Pakistan Meteorological had forecasted monsoon rains to last between August 10 and 12.
In weather-related incidents between the said days, two children died while 59 were injured in Bannu when a windstorm hit the district.
Bannu is a district which is located further south from Mardan.
Earlier, according to Provincial Disaster Management Authority, a weather warning was issued that monsoon — from low pressure areas over northeast Rajasthan — was likely to move slightly northwestwards. Under the influence of this weather system, strong monsoon currents were expected to lash the upper and central parts of the country.
