NA speaker urges OIC reforms

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Fehmida Mirza has stressed the need for strengthening the United Nations so that it could play a more effective role in bringing prosperity, peace and economic development in the world.

Mirza made these comments while talking to Dr Ali Abdussalam Treki, President of the 64th Session of the UN General Assembly who called on her at the Parliament House on Friday. She called for the drawing of a clear definition of terrorism by the UN in order to further support the international community in its effort to fight terrorism. Revitalising the OIC Forum and closer cooperation between the Muslim Ummah could help remove negative perceptions about Islam, she added.
