Pakhtuns And British Empire: Book on history of tribal belt published

The book elucidates the dilemmas faced by the British Raj in controlling the Pakhtuns

 

A book detailing the complicated relationship of the British Empire and the Pakhtuns of the North-West Frontier now Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), has recently been published by the Oxford University Press. The book entitled “The frontier tribal belt genesis and purpose under the Raj” by Salman Bangash elucidates the dilemmas faced by the British Raj in controlling and accommodating the Pakhtuns. The book discusses in depth the political, administrative, and social intricacies of the tribal belt under the British rule. Bangash is currently an associate professor at the Department of History, at the University of Peshawar.
