KARACHI: A 65-year-old man, Abdul Hakeem, breathed his last at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) on Thursday due to Congo virus. Hakeem, who hailed from Kabul, Afghanistan, was shifted to AKUH on Thursday morning, where he was admitted in the emergency ward due to his critical condition, said Karachi director health Dr Shakoor Abbasi. Dr Zafar Mehdi from the provincial government’s Congo cell also confirmed that he died in the evening at AKUH. Dr Abbasi added that the patient was suffering when he was brought to the hospital. “It is the third case this year,” he told The Express Tribune. “Recently, a doctor in Bahawalpur died after he treated a patient and got infected by the deadly virus.” Talking about precautions, Dr Abbasi said that one should be careful if they have pets or while dealing with animals as the virus is found in pets.
