What's better than Cinnabon, you ask? A Cinnabon you don't have to pay for. You heard me right. Make this batch of cinnamon buns and you will probably never get the store-bought ones.

Ingredients

For the dough:

All-purpose flour -- 2 cups

Yeast -- 1 ½ teaspoons

Milk -- ½ cup, warm

Sugar -- ¼ cup

Salt -- ½ teaspoon

Butter -- 2 ½ tablespoons, melted

Egg, 1 at room temperature

For filling

Sugar -- ½ cup

Cinnamon -- 1 ½ tablespoons

Butter -- ¼ cup, melted

For frosting

Cream cheese -- 125 grams

Butter -- ¼ cup

Icing sugar -- ¾ cup

Vanilla extract -- 1 teaspoon

Method

Mix yeast in warm milk and leave until frothy. Then whisk yeast mix, egg, sugar, butter and salt together. Then add flour one cup at a time and beat until well incorporated into a soft dough. Butter another mixing bowl and put the dough in it and leave it to rise for at least 30 minutes or until double in size.

Next make cinnamon sugar by mixing cinnamon and sugar together. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and butter it generously. Now dust it with cinnamon sugar and roll it up. To cut the rolls evenly, take a thread or a dental floss and wind it around the roll and pull it. You'd love this technique as it is totally mess-free. Grease a baking tray and line the buns in. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Take out the buns and let cool.

While they're cooling, make the frosting by whipping cream cheese, butter, vanilla and sugar together. Frost as much as you want, the more the better. Enjoy with tea or as an after-dinner dessert.
