KARACHI: The Standing Committee of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on Horticulture has proposed that the government may set a special mechanism to disburse interest free loans to small farmers who have a holding of ten acres of land. This was stated by FPCCI Regional Standing Committee Chairman Ahmad Jawad while chairing a committee meeting on Wednesday. He said that Pakistan has immense potential in the sector of agriculture and its allied sectors like horticulture and floriculture, which needs to be promoted. Jawad suggested that the issue of uncertainty in prices of agriculture commodities faced by farmers should also be addressed. He observed that despite the 18th Amendment, provinces had failed to introduce new agriculture, environment and food security policies.
