Quetta attack: CDGL cancels outdoor Aug 14 events

LAHORE: On the direction of the provincial government, the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) has cancelled all outdoor Independence Day functions. Talking to The Express Tribune, Independence Day Celebration Committee chairman Raja Jahangir said that the government had made the decision in the wake of the Quetta attack. Earlier, the CDGL had announced plans for a torch-bearers’ rally, fireworks and an exhibition to mark the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. The fireworks were to be held at Gaddafi Stadium on the eve of August 14. The Ravi Town administration had planned the torch-bearers’ rally from the TMA’s office to the Masti Gate Chowk.
