Quetta carnage: IIUI alumni remembered
Participants of a condolence reference at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), held for martyrs of the Quetta attack, called for a counter-narrative to get rid of the menace of terrorism. At least seven of the victims in Monday’s blast were IIUI alumni lawyers. The participants also condoled IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai, who lost relatives in the incident, according to a press release. “The nation is facing a tough time. Terrorism has crippled society. It is time to rise. We need to be united as silence is not a solution,” said Dr Yasinzai. He furthered that universities would seriously have to take their role of nation building. The rector said that 200 IIUI students from across the country would travel to Quetta, where they would raise Pakistani flag to show that nation is united. He was of the view that the terrorist mindset can only be defeated through education.
