Precaution needed: PDMA alerts of monsoon rains

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) predicted more monsoon rains in next three days, from Wednesday (today) to Friday, in various parts of the country and directed departments to take adequate measures. In a notification issued on Tuesday, PDMA stated that low pressure area persisted over East Rajasthan in India and was likely to move slowly towards the northwest part of the country during the next 24 hours. It added this can trigger more monsoon rains in the coming days. The notification also stated thunderstorms with heavy rainfall were also expected in scattered places of the province from Wednesday to Friday. “Heavy downpour may trigger flash floods, landslide and Glacial Lake Outburst Flood in vulnerable areas of K-P.
