ISLAMABAD: The administrative control of three major recreational facilities has been transferred to the local government of the federal capital.

The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) will be responsible for the development and upkeep of F-9 Park, Marghazar Zoo and Lake View Park, said a statement issued by the Capital Administration and Development Division state minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry here on Monday.

It is expected that after the transfer of the three facilities to the corporation, the residents would be provided enhanced recreational facilities in the capital, the minister hoped.

Chaudhry further said that the powers have been devolved to local government representatives that would catalyse change, resolve the long-standing issues and ensure the civic facilities to the people.

He said that the Capital Development Authority and the metropolitan corporation were working hand in hand with each other to provide better civic services to the residents.

Chaudhry further added that they are working for the development of the federal capital, according to the vision of PM Nawaz Sharif.

He vowed that Islamabad would be made a model city by working in synergy with the elected representatives.
