The seminar titled: Importance of Digital Forensics in Crime Solving was organised by the Lahore Garrison University (LGU).
Former Punjab governor Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool was the chief guest. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab Director Maj (r) Syed Burhan was also present.
The speakers welcomed the newly-established Digital Forensics Research and Service Centre (DFRSC) at the LGU. They said that developed countries were enhancing their capabilities in digital forensics and cyber security.
“It is the main tool in investigation and cyber defence. Governments, private organisations and critical infrastructure are at risk due to cyber threats. The US government has declared cyber space as the fifth domain of war,” they said. VC Obaid bin Zakariya said the establishment of the DFRSC was an important milestone towards achieving expertise in the field. “The DFRSC will conduct research, surveys, training, certification and publish white papers on various fields of digital forensics and cyber security.”
