PESHAWAR: Heavy rain lashed various parts of the province and scattered parts of the tribal belt on Sunday. The downpour brought much-needed respite from the scorching heat. The Pakistan Meteorological Department recorded four millimetres of rain in Peshawar. It has also forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorm over the next 24 hours.

An official at the Met department told The Express Tribune rain is likely to continue till Monday.  “Almost every district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa witnessed heavy rain and thunderstorms,” he said. “Rain is expected in a number of places in the province.”

According to the official, Malakand, Hazara Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan divisions are likely to experience a downpour.  “Rain is expected in the tribal areas in the next 24 hours,” another official of the Met office told The Express Tribune. The PMD recorded 34 millimetres of rain in Balakot. “At least three millimetres of rain was recorded in Parachinar, Kurram Agency,” he said. “Around two millimeters of rain was recorded in Kakul.”
