ISLAMABAD: A hospital was inaugurated on Friday, in UC Ban Hafiz Gee of District Mianwali by Japanese Ambassador Takashi Kurai, which shall serve as a maternity home and an emergency centre.

Tasneem Hospital was built with the financial support of $101,697(Rs10.6 million), provided by the government of Japan to Obaid Noor Welfare Association (ONWA) - a non-governmental organisation actively working in the health sector.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of ONWA, representatives of health departments and community members from the vicinity.

The construction of the hospital was made possible with the financial assistance provided by the Japanese Embassy, under its Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) programme.

Kurai announced that the hospital is fully operational and has already begun providing accessible, affordable and reliable services to the local community.

Considering the lack of medical assistance in the targeted area, and in order to meet the critical need of such facilities, the services in the centre will be available on a 24-hour basis.

Additionally, the emergency unit has been established to provide appropriate healthcare facilities to patients in an efficient and timely manner.

The ambassador expressed his hope that this project would contribute to improving the living standard of Pakistan, and further strengthen the existing friendly relations between the people of Japan and Pakistan.
