Protest: Protest by family of rape victim
BAHAWALPUR:
Several residents of Niazi Colony, Rahim Yar Khan, staged a demonstration in front of the Press Club on Wednesday to protest against the police for “favouring suspects in a rape case”. The victim’s mother told journalists that a man and a woman had befriended her daughter and had taken her to a house a few weeks ago. “The man sexually assaulted her there and they detained her at the house for several weeks. A few days ago, she managed to flee from the house and came home.” The victim said they had complained to the police but she feared that the police were favouring the suspects. “They are quite influential.” Rahim Yar Khan Division B police have registered a case against the suspects. A police spokesperson said they were looking for the suspects. The victim’s family appealed to the Bahawalpur RPO and the Rahim Yar Khan DPO to take notice and to provide them with justice and protection.
