Academia: IIUI, Al-Azhar agree to boost cooperation

Improvement in educational standards in Muslim world needed

Greater bilateral cooperation in various academic spheres was stressed coupled with further improvement of educational standards in the Muslim world, during a meeting attended by Islamic scholars on Wednesday.

The meeting held in Cairo, Egypt was attended by the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) President Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayyeb and IIUI former vice-president Hassan Abdul Latif.

The gathering was a part of the IIUI president’s efforts for the dissemination of the university’s message of peace and the facilitation of education among the Muslim diaspora. Latif spoke of the establishment of the university, the concept of internationalisation and the rich history of the IIUI.

The grand imam lauded the services and efforts of Al-Draiweesh and hoped that the institution would soon become one of the leading international universities.

The IIUI president enumerated the number of international and national conferences and seminars organised by the university.
