Power woes: Lesco chief removed from office
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started probing the case of three grid stations
LAHORE:
Lahore Electric Supply Company [LESCO] Chief Operating Officer Qaisar Zaman was removed from his office by the Ministry of Water and Power on Tuesday. Muhammad Anwar, serving as technical director, was given acting charge of the office. Moreover Assad Ullah, working as the operations director, was transferred and posted to the office of the chief executive officer at the Hyderabad Electric Power Company [HESCO]. Zaman had been scheduled to retire from the office in June this year. However, his term in office was extended for a year ahead of his retirement. An inquiry was underway against him on charges of embezzlement of funds allocated for establishment of grid stations and purchase of transformers. The National Accountability Bureau [NAB] had started probing the case of three grid stations a couple of days ago.
