The Prime Minister is not only in touch with allied parties over formation of a new cabinet but he is also in close consultation with Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain of the opposition leadership, said sources.
The new cabinet is likely to consist of 20 ministers.
Sources also said that Gilani is likely to announce the new cabinet on Wednesday this week and has scheduled the first meeting for the new cabinet on the same day.
Earlier last week, the top decision-making body of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) decided to dissolve the cabinet, a concession to the opposition unlikely to help win its support for wholesale economic reform as demanded by the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
