The hit animated TV show The Simpsons mocked US presidential candidate Donald Trump in its latest episode which parodied the now infamous 3am phone call that Hillary Clinton exposed in a TV ad against Barack Obama during the 2008 Democratic presidential primaries.

The Simpsons struggle with making a decision about who they should vote for in the upcoming 2106 presidential election in a highly humorous new clip that went viral on the social media recently.

In the video, Marge Simpson, is indecisive whether to vote for Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump in the upcoming elections

With a little help from Trump, ‘Simpsons’ to create history

"Yep, it's the American way," Homer Simpson can be heard saying as he reaches for the  television remote and switches on the TV.

Suddenly a political ad can be seen on the TV screen, asking, "It's 3am in the White House. Who do you want to answer that call?"

What happens next is highly comical, as former president Bill Clinton can be seen answering a red phone by his bedside. "The situation room? I'll be right there?" he states, before the realisation hits him that he's not the president.

'The Simpsons' predicted Trump's presidency 16 years ago

"It's for you," he says, handing the phone to his wife. "Yes," Hillary replies. "From now on, it's always for me." An alternate scenario finds Trump in bed and ignoring the emergency call as he is too busy tweeting about Elizabeth Warren.

Trump then calls the situation room, informing them that he will be right there, but first the real estate mogul summons his team, who over the course of countless hours apply powder to his face, spray on self-tanner, remove his nightcap to place a fluffy dog on his head and slip on a pair of larger hands.

The phone rings again and Trump sees that now he's too late for the meeting and a Chinese fleet is advancing towards the United States. He proposes a solution to the crisis. "Build another wall. Yes, in the ocean, loser!"

Homer suggests to vote for Trump but Marge does not take that well..

"If that's your vote, I question whether I can be with you ever again," she sates.

"And that's how I became a Democrat," Homer says.
