Voice of dissent: ‘Imran Khan’s movement will not gain momentum’
Amir Muqam says incumbent government will complete its tenure
SWABI:
The movement announced from August 7 by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan will not gain momentum, just like his previous sit-in and movements. This was said by Adviser to Prime Minister Amir Muqam.
He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of Muslim Lawyers Forum in District Bar Room in Swabi on Saturday.
Muqam added the democratically-elected Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will continue to govern the country.
“The government will complete its tenure,” he added.
He said the PTI chief should not waste precious time in announcing sit-ins and movements.
“Change is brought through hard work,” he said. “Imran Khan’s government has failed to deliver to the public.”
Grants and connections
Muqam also announced a grant of Rs0.10 million for District Bar Association and Rs0.1 million each for Muslim Lawyers Forum and District Bar.
He also urged the gas department to provide gas connections to Judicial Complex and vowed to support lawyers.
Hitting out
“Imran Khan should stop dreaming about becoming country’s prime minister,” he said. “He should let the people decide who should lead the country in the next elections.”
The adviser said the people of K-P have voted Imran into power in the 2013 general elections.
“However, due to his poor performance, PTI could not fare too well in the local bodies’ election in 2015,” he said.
Muqam said a similar situation was witnessed in the general elections of Gilgit-Baltistan in June 2015 and Kashmir earlier this month.
According to the adviser, Imran must concentrate on bringing a change in K-P by providing free education to students and free treatment in hospitals.
“He should not waste time on social media,” he said. “A scandal surfaced regarding Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO).”
