Calling the action “illegal and unconstitutional”, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Rabita Committee claimed that at present the Rangers “do not have policing powers and are thus not authorised to raid or arrest anyone in Karachi”.
PPP backs MQM over Karachi operation
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement said party chief Altaf Hussain was about to address workers when the party offices were surrounded.
The party alleged that the Rangers men harassed and threatened them and raided the house of UC joint-organiser Muhammad Yasir.
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement appealed to rights groups to take notice of this violation of human rights, and called for an end to such practices.
