KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad accepted the outgoing chief minister’s resignation on Wednesday, paving the way for finance minister Murad Ali Shah to take over the reins of the provincial government.

The Sindh cabinet stands dissolved with Qaim Ali Shah’s resignation, as the incoming provincial chief executive will form his own cabinet.

“I have summoned the assembly session on Friday where the CM-nominee will get a vote of confidence,” the governor told reporters on Wednesday.

After the new CM’s election, the oath-taking ceremony will also take place the same day at the Governor House at about 7pm.

The Sindh Assembly speaker has asked all opposition parties to nominate their candidate for the slot by Thursday. So far, only the PTI has nominated its lawmaker Khurram Sher Zaman to contest the election against Murad Ali Shah.
