Newly elected British Prime Minister Theresa May has said Pakistan is a dependable ally of the United Kingdom, and there will be no fallouts with Islamabad post-Brexit.
The UK premier said this while talking to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during a phone call on Tuesday. She assured her Pakistani counterpart that both the countries would work together in the post-Brexit era, and there would be no adverse effects on bilateral relations after the UK exited the European Union.

“Prime Minister Nawaz extended his warmest congratulations to the British premier on her historic appointment as the prime minister of the United Kingdom,” a statement issued by the PM Office read.
“May’s appointment to the prime minister office reflects the faith and confidence the people of UK had reposed in her ability to steer the country at a historic time,” it quoted the premier as saying.

Nawaz also assured the British premier of Pakistan’s support to work closely with the United Kingdom in all fields of bilateral cooperation.
The British premier thanked PM Nawaz for his kind words and said Pakistan and the UK would work together as bilateral partners. She also said that she was eagerly waiting for her planned visit to Pakistan in the coming months. The visit was scheduled when she was serving as the British home secretary.
