LAHORE: Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, on Tuesday took suo motu notice of increasing incidents of child abduction in the Punjab and directed the inspector general (IG) of Punjab Police to submit a report regarding the matter. Justice NIsar observed that the media had widely reported that there had been 600 abductions this year in the province and approximately 300 from Lahore alone. Nisar noted that, “It has been highlighted that such abductions were orchestrated with the nefarious object of extracting vital body organs for sexual abuse and for beggary. He further observed, “In any case, such a large scale abduction of children is a matter of immense concern and alarm.” He directed the IG of Punjab Police to delegate a high ranking officer to place details of the incidents, if any, before the court at its Lahore registry on July 28, 2016.
