PESHAWAR: All internally displaced persons will be repatriated by the end of the year.

This was said by Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and was mentioned in a handout issued by information department on Tuesday.

According to the document, the governor was speaking to World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director Lola Castro. Jhagra said the process of repatriating internally displaced persons has already started.

“The tribal belt has witnessed a new phase of stability due to Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan,” the handout cited Jhagra as saying. “This is predominantly due to the sacrifices rendered by tribespeople and the security forces.”

The country director briefed the governor about WFP’s activities. He said a stipend of Rs1,200 will be given to girls at high schools and Rs800 to girls at middle schools. “WFP will also help in various sectors including health, education and technical education,” the document added.
