KARACHI: Slain internet sensation Qandeel Baloch had committed to performing at the upcoming Lux Style Awards 2016 hours before she was strangled to death by her brother.

It has been revealed that LSA Talent Manager Maaz Ghazi was coordinating with the social media starlet.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Ghazi said he tried calling her several times on the evening of July 15 but she did not answer. “Then she called back around 9pm and I told her that we want her to become a part of the show.”

Ghazi said Baloch was set to perform in the opening act alongside singer-actor Ali Zafar. “It was not a dance or singing performance. It was a short humourous skit that we had prepared,” he added. He said they had then decided to rope her in to sing at the event as well, considering Baloch had recently released a new song. “She had agreed but the very next morning we heard about her death.”

LSA organiser Frieha Altaf was not available for comment. LSA media manager Fareshteh Aslam could not be reached despite multiple attempts.

Zafar, on the other hand, will also act as the host for the evening, as will Ahmed Ali Butt and Ayesha Omar.

Raees star Mahira Khan will be gracing the stage for her first-ever live dance performance. She will be seen alongside her Ho Mann Jahaan co-star Sheheryar Munawar as well as Mohsin Abbas Haider.

Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan will also be putting on his dancing shoes to perform alongside Sohai Ali Abro, although there’s no confirmation on this.

Recently, Baloch’s Facebook page and Instagram account were both taken down by the platforms’ parent company Facebook, Inc.
