Weapons were to be used in terrorist activities

HANGU: Security forces seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Orakzai Agency on Monday.

A security forces official told The Express Tribune that a hideout in Arkhi area was raided and a huge cache of weapons was recovered.

“The house belonged to a banned organisation’s commander, Fazal Hayat, alias Malangay.” He said the weapons were hidden in the house and were to be used in terrorist activities.

On February 16, security forces also seized a large cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in Orakzai Agency.

A security forces official said a Quick Response Force team searched central Orakzai and recovered weapons hidden in a tunnel. The weapons included 104 82-mm mortar bombs, eight 75-mm mortar bombs, 31 SPG guns, nine bombs and 95 bullets.

Similarly, in December 2015, security forces recovered another cache of arms and ammunition near the residence of a militant commander in Lower Orakzai Agency. The operation was carried out in Tor Semat area.
