Operation  intensifies: 195 drug addicts arrested in city

The suspects were handed over to Dost Foundation for rehabilitation

PESHAWAR:  

The city district government has intensified the drive against drug addicts and 195 of them were arrested in various parts of the city.

The suspects were handed over to Dost Foundation for rehabilitation.

While speaking to The Express Tribune on Monday, the city nazim’s spokesperson, Feroz Shah, said the nazim directed the social welfare department head, Jahanzaib Khan, and others to start an operation.

He added the process was under way and the department submitted a report to the nazim’s office and shared details.

“At least 195 drug addicts have been arrested from Bacha Khan Chowk, Suray Pul, Shoba Bazaar, Firdous Market, GT Road, Nishtarabad, Pajaggi Road and Jinnah Park areas.”

Meanwhile, city district Nazim Arbab Muhammad Asim said the operation against drug addicts would continue and the district government will ensure that those detained become responsible members of society.

He added the drive was being carried out in rural and urban areas.
