Olympic-inspired bands for Apple Watch launched

Flag-inspired bands will only be available in Brazil

If you are an Olympic enthusiast and eager to support your country in the 2016 Rio Games, than this new product from Apple is just for you.

Apple has recently launched Olympic-inspired bands for the Apple Watch that represents official colours of different countries.

But there’s a catch, these flag-inspired bands are only available in Brazil.



The bands, which will be available from August at the Apple Store in VillageMall in Barra da Tijuca at a price of $100, would represent the biggest competitors of the Olympics. The list of 14 countries that are going to have their bands are the US, Australia Great Britain,the Netherlands, South Africa, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan, Jamaica, Canada, China, Germany, France and hosts Brazil.

To get one you will have to wait till August, though some athletes like USA sprinter Trayvon Bromell, have already got theirs.

Apple has shifted from its traditional one size fits all approach towards more personalisation especially with its wearable line of products. Apple Watch users have the option to choose from a wide range of bands since it was first launched last year.



The company released a special rainbow coloured band earlier this month for its employees celebrating Pride. The straps saw a positive response on the internet, also showing demand for them by the general public.

The Olympic-inspired straps then are expected to do pretty well, even with users outside of Brazil.
