Big catch: Four ‘gangsters’ arrested in raid

KARACHI: Police apprehended on Thursday four suspected gangsters involved in more than a dozen killings from their hideout in Federal B Industrial Area.

Shakir Baloch alias Policewala, Obaidur Rehman, Akram Lasi and Asghar - all associated with gangster Jabbar Jhengo - were arrested during a raid near Shafiq Mor, said SHO Naeem Khan.

The suspects killed over 30 people over non-payment of extortion and ransom, over gang rivalry and during riots, SHO Khan said.

He identified Baloch as a close lieutenant of Jhengo (who was reportedly killed in Balochistan). The suspect confessed to the murder of at least 15 people during initial interrogation, he said.

Baloch is said to be a policeman deputed at Garden headquarters and currently enrolled in a commando course at Razzakabad training centre.
