Bukhari had been suffering from multiple ailments and was admitted to Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi after his health deteriorated in March this year. “Being a senior lawyer, he dealt with legal issues and matters of the party,” MQM spokesperson Aminul Haque said.

Over 70 years of age, Bukhari was regarded as an old worker of the MQM. He joined the MQM in the late 1980s and served as MQM deputy parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly. He was also the former planning and development and labour minister.
Between 2008 and 2013, along with being a member of the Sindh Assembly he also became the minister of Bureau of Supply and Prices. During the 2013 elections, he was not awarded a ticket by the party due to his health, said Haque.
In MQM, Bukhari served as a member of the party’s legal aid committee and a member of the Rabita Committee. The members of MQM Rabita Committee had visited him in the hospital, and its convener Nadeem Nusrat and MQM chief Altaf Hussain expressed concern over his health.
