People’s power: JI pays rich tribute to Turkish people

"The recent coup bid was a part of the Anti-Islamic forces' conspiracy,” says party's recent press release

The central executive of the Jamaat-i-Islami on Monday expressed solidarity with the Turkish people and greeted them on the failure of an attempted coup.

This was stated in a press release following a meeting of the executive at Mansoora, chaired by JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq. It stated that the Turkish government had adopted a bold and firm stance on issues in the Muslim world. “Anti-Islamic forces are hatching conspiracies against the democratic and popular government of Turkey. The recent coup bid was a part of the same conspiracy,” it said.

The central executive praised the Turkish people for standing up to protect their democratic government and their basic rights.

“The courage and democratic outlook of the Turkish people is a model for the entire Muslim world, especially the Pakistani people,” it said.

It said that the Turkish president and his team had demonstrated exemplary courage during the crisis and proved their leadership through wise decisions.

“Turkish generals, military officers and troops who refused to side with the rebels should be honoured for their commitment to the democratic system,” it stated. The JI executive also praised the decision of all political leaders of Turkey who stood in support of the democratic system against the rebels despite their differences with the government. “The love and brotherhood of the people of Turkey and Pakistan for each other will last forever.”
