KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) observed on Saturday a candle-light vigil at Do Talwar in Clifton to pay tribute to late philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi and slain qawwal Amjad Sabri. Senior members and workers of the party prayed for the souls of the departed and lit candles in their remembrance.

"Edhi was a great humanitarian who served all without any discrimination," MQM leader Nasreen Jalil told The Express Tribune. She urged all Pakistanis to follow Edhi's example by engaging in public service.

Jalil demanded quick justice for Sabri, who was gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists recently, and urged the law enforcement agencies to catch those responsible. Further vigils will be held in different parts of the city, she added.

"The services of Edhi can never be forgotten," said MQM deputy convener Shahid Pasha, adding that the MQM is not satisfied with investigations relating to Sabri's assassination.
