Comedian Junaid Akram's take on Qandeel's murder is an eye opener for Pakistanis

She didn't go to hell, she just left one

Pakistani social media starlet, Qandeel Baloch was murdered in cold blood on Saturday by her brother in the name of honour. Comedian Junaid Akram took to Facebook and expressed his moving thoughts over this horrendous act.

His video, 'This one's for Qandeel Baloch' reached out to over a million followers, and in it, Akram talks about the bigotry, hypocrisy and how deeply flawed our mindset is as Pakistanis.

"I don't understand why this society has placed its honour between the legs of a woman," stated Junaid. "It's acceptable for men to carry out all forms of vices but God-forbid if a woman deviates from the societal norms, the only answer to that is blood."

He confidently spoke out and said that the core reason for the death of this nation won't be corruption or any other evil, but the scornful mindset of its people.

"Qandeel Baloch wasn't unrobbed. It's the mindset of the society which is stripped and hypocritical," he explains.

He further added, "Khuda key liye khuda na banain, khuda ka maamla khuda per chordain. (Don't try to play God)"

Junaid also reminded Edhi supporters who are celebrating Qandeel's demise, that this man saved lives irrespective of their caste, creed and culture and never wished death upon anyone. So if you consider yourself a supporter, you need to take another look at Edhi Sahab's philosophy and take knowledge of what he stood up for.

Lastly, the genius concluded by saying, "I will not entertain those on my page who are so easy going about the death of a human being. She didn't go to hell, she just left one."

What she did was wrong sir. our religion doesn't allow a women to be bold and vulgar. yeah i agree bringing her to death was against Islam but what she did was also against Islam. Even we will not allow our sisters to do what she was doing. So please just condemn honor killing of Qandeel Baloch don't support what she did for publicity and fame.

You will surely agree that mass media always needs sponsor / sensation like Veena, Meera, Ayaan, Qandeel etl. to run its mock project. She was highlighted for nothing but just to increase the rating and she was asked for time & again do more by media which resulted in her death. I wonder who will be the next victim.

The only rule is the rule of the jungle. The powerful and rich have all the security, the citizens are left to their own.

deep | 8 years ago | Reply "Nasamji mein galti" "koi galat raaste pe ho tho duaa karna" Two statements that made me pause - so even this enllightened guy who speaks of his religion not teaching him to kill cannot celebrate the life of Qandeel Baloch - she was unconventional - in-your-face and in a conservative society - she was a refreshing change. Disappointed that even the best among the intellectuals dont seem to take pride in Qandeel's choices.

She born in pakistan if she was in america she definately star for us like lady gaga, merlin, sunny leon and kangna ranawat. I question what she did wrong. There is only fault or mistake that we underestimate her, i 100 percent sure that if she have good director or producer she may be good rest of all including marwa, maira, ayesha umer, ayesha umer etc.

Its unfathomable that a society's mindset is stooping so low.. hope you and people like you can continue to protect whatever good is left in Pakistan. Wherever Qandeel has gone now will definitely be a better place than Pakistan. RIP.

Sajid | 8 years ago | Reply Almost every sane person is sad and condemn so-called honor killing of Qandeel Baloch. But most of us failed to realize that FB is "directly" responsible for her murder. Had she not selected social media for publicity, she would have been living her life by now, irrespective of fame which she got through FB. We should always think rationally and our sense in pretty much almost everything and should always use social media in a positive and productive way. QB murder told us how dangerous FB could be. Please be safe.
