Edhi’s son Faisal Edhi, the torch-bearer of the Edhi Foundation, has announced his family would donate their organs to the SIUT, following in the footsteps of his father.
Abdul Sattar Edhi’s eyes were transplanted onto two donors after his death on July 8.

On Saturday, Faisal thanked the SIUT for its services to help his father cope with his prolonged illness over the years at an event organised by the hospital to remember the philanthropist.
“Adeeb Rizvi and my father developed a fine equation over the years,” he said. “It was Rizvi sahib’s duty to make him [Edhi] understand the importance of going to the hospital for treatment after all efforts of me and my mother failed.”
He then promised his family would also donate their organs to the SIUT “so that others may follow this practice and donate organs for the well-being of the humanity”.
Dr Adeeb ul Hassan Rizvi, director SIUT, speaking at ceremony held at the institute paid rich tributes to late Edhi. “He didn’t belong to us, Pakistanis as a nation. But he was meant for the entire mankind.”
