CTD claimed that one of the suspects arrested has been involved in over two dozen cases of targeted killings including the attack on former Karachi police chief in 1995.
The suspects were identified as Shakir Ali alias Mamu and Rizwan alias Sukkar Wala. Their arrests were made during a press conference held by CTD DSP Khalid Awan at his office on Saturday evening.
Rizwan was arrested on the information provided by the Shakir who is affiliated with a political party and has been involved in donation's collection and disrupting law and order situation during strikes, said Awan, adding that Rizwan was arrested during a raid in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
"Rizwan has been involved in number of cases of crime including attacks and killings of police personnel," the officer explained.
"He has been involved in criminal activities since 1995 and was wanted to the police, particularly in the police stations of District West including Pak Colony, Orangi Town and Mominabad."
CTD DSP Awan further said that the accused so far revealed his involvement in nearly 26 cases of targeted killings including the murderous attack on former Karachi police chief Shahid Hayat in Orangi Town in 1995. In the attack, Hayat was injured while two of his police guards lost their lives.
Besides police killings, the accused has also been involved in targeted killings of Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi's workers. CTD officials also claim to have seized arms and ammunitions from his possession. Separately, District Central police also claimed to have arrested a notorious target killer-cum-extortionist during a raid in Federal B Industrial Area. The suspect was identified as Ziarat Gul, son of Anar Gul.
Federal B Industrial Area SHO inspector Naeem Khan said that the suspect has been involved in various cases of murder, robbery and extortion. "He was wanted to police of various police stations of a city," claimed SHO Naeem Khan. "He was also declared absconder in various cases."
