PESHAWAR: At least 203 illegal kunda connections have been removed during a series of raids conducted in various parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

This was mentioned in a handout issued on Thursday.

“Special recovery teams have been constituted to pursue cases of power thefts,” the document stated. “During the raids, various parts of RA Bazaar were checked.” Necessary action has been taken and FIRs have also been registered.

According to the handout, raids were conducted by surveillance teams of Pesco and Wapda.

“This is part of the expedited campaign against the illegal kunda connections by the Pesco Chief Executive Anwarul Haq Yousafzai,” the document added.

As per the handout, surveillance teams also arrested another 56 people who were involved in power thefts in Lala subdivision, 114 in Nishtarabad subdivision, 14 in Wazir Bagh subdivision and 19 in Gulbahar.

“The drive against illegal use of electricity will continue,” the handout stated. “Power thefts have triggered substantial financial losses and line losses to the company. [It has also] disturbed Pesco’s distribution system.”

According to the document, these power thefts go against the larger interests of the country. “We will make every effort to prevent power pilferage,” it added.
