In injury and in health – they do

KARACHI: The marriage of two famous sports personalities has always been a big deal – and why shouldn’t it be? Fans may cheer the two individuals separately while they put forward their best game, but it’s a whole different, almost magical scenario when they utter their vows, shunning the sports gears and aggressive demeanour to become the perfect picture of bliss. We all remember the unions of Andre Agassi with Steffi Graf, Ricky Stenhouse Jr with Danice Patrick, Curtis Conway with Laila Ali, and even Shoaib Malik with Sania Mirza.

Ace German footballer Bastian Schweinsteiger recently joined the list after tying the knot with Serbian tennis star Ana Ivanovic at a private ceremony held in Venice, Italy. The two started dating in 2014 and finally decided to seal the deal on July 12, two years later, reported dailymail.co.uk.

Ana, otherwise seen in her tennis gear on the court in the scorching heat, was a vision of perfection in white. They say it is a woman’s smile, and not her dress or accessories that make her truly beautiful, and we couldn’t agree more. She stepped out of the City Hall holding her husband’s hand, wearing an all-white, ruffled full-length dress designed by contemporary New York-based fashion house, Parker. The dress featured a halter neck, perfect for a tennis player as it accentuated Ivanonic’s athletic arms and shoulders. With those frills, the cinched waist, the halter neck and hair let down loose, she instantly reminded us of a Greek goddess. Grinning ear to ear, the tennis ace made her outfit look like a million bucks as she accessorised it with a gorgeous white bouquet, white shoes and diamond studs. Simplicity really is beauty, and Ivanovic can give any celebrity a few tips on that!

The Manchester United midfielder radiated happiness as he was seen escorting his wife out of the venue following the ceremony. He donned a navy blue two-piece suit paired with a crisp white shirt sans a tie, for a more relaxed look. A single white rose on the blazer complemented Ivanovic’s dress perfectly. The couple sported sunglasses upon leaving the City Hall as they boarded a gondola, making their way to the Aman Canal Grande Luxury Hotel where the wedding party was scheduled to take place for close friends and family members.
