The organisers of a summer camp promoting Sindhi and Pashto languages and cultures here have expressed their hope to advance a pluralistic mindset among children.
A one-month summer camp on Sindhi and Pushto languages began at the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) on Tuesday with an aim to celebrate diversity of languages in the country.
Lok Virsa Executive-Director Dr Fouzia Saeed said the initiative was taken with an aim to create ownership among children regarding languages and cultural heritage of the country, and introduced them to Sindhi and Pashtun cultures.
“We want to develop a new generation with a pluralistic mindset,” she said, while speaking to The Express Tribune.
Pashto is a member of southeastern branch of Indo-Iranian languages. Sindhi is an Indo-Aryan language which is spoken in Sindh.
