KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed on Monday the police authorities to include Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) in an FIR already registered at the Landhi police station regarding the alleged disappearance of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) worker Riazul Haq.

Headed by Justice Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah, the division bench was hearing an application filed by Farah Riazul Haq against the alleged unlawful detention of her husband by the Rangers. She alleged that they had taken Haq into custody from his house located in the limits of the Landhi police station on May 19, 2015.

She recalled that on the directives of the SHC, the Landhi police had registered a case regarding Haq’s kidnapping after the passage of one year. However, his body was found bearing torture marks on June 30 this year.

The petitioner pleaded to the court to direct the police to include Section 302 into the FIR, which they had already lodged under allegations of kidnapping, and take action against those responsible.

During Monday’s proceedings, the judges directed the Landhi SHO to include Section 302 in the FIR and take action in accordance with the law.
