Search operation: PO arrested, grenade defused

HANGU: A proclaimed offender was arrested during a search and strike operation within the City police’s jurisdiction in Hangu.

The detained man was identified as Abdul Ghaffar, stated Hangu SHO Amjad Hussain.

He also said the suspect was also involved in cases of attempted murder and other criminal activities.

He said an operation was launched against criminals to ensure peace and harmony in the area. In the meanwhile, a planted hand grenade was defused by the bomb disposal squad in Kharcha Banda area of Hangu.

BDU incharge Asadullah said the grenade was planted by unidentified gunmen outside the house of a local, Tariq Ashraf. He said some high quality explosives were used to make the device.

A large number of hand grenades and toy bombs are used by criminals and miscreants in order to cause disturbance and havoc in the city.
