PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced on Sunday that Hockey Club of Pakistan will be renamed to Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium in order to pay tribute to the late philanthropist, who passed away late Friday after a long battle with kidney illness.

In a press release, PHF President Brigadier (retired) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar said, "I feel honoured to announce the renaming of Hockey Club of Pakistan in Karachi as Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium.”

“PHF believes that renaming of hockey’s biggest facility in Edhi’s hometown would be the most appropriate way to pay tribute to our great national hero,” the statement added.

Edhi started his charitable organisation in 1951, and ran it entirely with private donations. He also turned it into the biggest ambulance service in the world.
