PARIS:
A strike by Eder in extra-time helped Portugal beat France to clinch the Euro 2016 title.

Portugal, who lost talisman Cristiano Ronaldo after just 25 minutes due to injury, had held on against France through much of normal time which finished goalless in 90 minutes.

French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac almost gave the hosts victory in the final seconds of normal time as he turned Portuguese defender Pepe but scuffed his shot which rolled against the post.

In second half of extra-time, Raphael crashed a free-kick against the crossbar before Eder scored on 109 minutes.
